Bangladesh- the 2nd fastest growing economy: MasterCard
Bangladesh ranks second among the 46 countries with the fastest growing economies in the world. A report titled 'Economic Outlook: Balancing Prices and Priorities' by global economic affairs organization Mastercard Economics Institute on Tuesday (December 12) revealed such information.
According to the report, among 46 countries, the expected GDP rate of Bangladesh will be 6.3%, which will be the second fastest growing country. India has been shown as the top fastest growing country with a GDP growth rate of 6.4%.
The third fastest growing country is Vietnam (6.1%) and the fourth is Indonesia (5.2%).
Besides, the report mentions, consumer price inflation in Bangladesh will stand at 7.3% next year, which is the fourth highest among 48 countries and the highest among South Asia. Argentina has the highest inflation (156.9%), followed by Turkey (53.3%), third highest in Egypt (24.9%) and fifth highest in Sri Lanka (6.9%).
A report by MasterCard Economics Institute has identified Bangladesh as the second fastest growing economy in the world after India for the coming year which is considered positive. According to the report, inflation in Bangladesh will be the highest in South Asia next year, even higher than that of Sri Lanka.
However, before that, the IMF said that Bangladesh's GDP will be 6 percent in 2023-24. On the other hand, according to the World Bank, the GDP growth of Bangladesh will be 5.6 percent during this period. According to the information given by the government in the current financial year, the country's GDP growth has been 6.03 percent.
